Hi there,
I am looking for scientific references (in humans) about the possible
accumulation of lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) in adipose tissue and its
possible release into the circulation at a later time. Also, is this
phenomenon responsible for the occurrence of Hallucinogen Persisting
Perception Disorders (flashbacks)typical of chromic LSD use?
Thanks in advance.
Michael Molino.

I recall some papers from the late 60s to early 70s on modelling PK/PD
data of LSD in humans; authors include G.Levy, J. Wagner. Some of the
discussion centered on hysteresis. Hope this is helpful.

Hi Michael,
additionally to LSD, Cannabis is also mentioned to cause flashbacks. There
are some studies trying to find an answer to the question, whether the
consumption of cannabis can cause flashbacks, at which THC concentrations,
and, if so, under what circumstances they occur.

Another possible thought is the phencyclidine derivative Ketamine, the
injectable anaesthetic which also causes flashback hallucinations
occasionally. If it has similar clinical effects perhaps it has similar
pharmacokinetics.
