How much IV is too much?
Depends on the size of the human and the presenting condition.
In peds for resuscitation we routinely use 10-20mls/kg. In septic shock this
my go up to 60mls/kg. We had a 16 yr old patient in septic shock that we
bolused with 7 liters of fluid and were still short.
I am not sure what the max is and what result you are trying to achieve.
best of luck...... Robert

One of the most important points is the cardiac work. Our
normative indicates that, with children (<0.5 m2), the maximun
volume es 50 ml in 30 minutes or (0.5 to 1 m2) 100 ml in 30
minutes.
Of course it depends of the particular case, but pehaps you have a
general rule in children.
Sometimes these volumen could be greater.
With adults, the volumen is very different; really it is very large. It
could be of a lot of litres. Besides, you should control the urinary
work.
