We have isolated and identified a metabolite with a sulfite moiety which
appears to be covalently bound to nitrogen from the NMR data. Initially
we thought it was a phase II sulfate conjugation. Since sulfate and
sulfite has very little difference, their fragmentation is similar on
MS. From the literature search sulfite modification has been identified
in bacteria and other microorganism and not in mammalian systems. Is
anyone aware of such modification in mammalian system under any
conditions such GSH or N-acetyl cystein containing culture media or from
any other source. Thanks.
