Hello my name is Blair Henderson and I am a fourth year medical student at
the University of Manitoba (in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada).
I am currently developing a kinetic calculator for the Linux operating
system. I am using a set of equations that were published by Dr. P Maitre
in his paper:
" Evaluating the Accuracy of Using Population Pharmacokinetic Data to
Predict Plasma Concentrations of Alfentanil",
Anesthesiology 68:59-67, 1988
In this paper, a set of equations are developed that allow one to model
the quantity of drug in each compartment, by knowing: the starting
quantity in each compartment, the kinetic constants, and any boluses or
infusions in to the central compartment.
I have been able to get this to work quite well. I would like to now
expand on this and also model/predict the effect site concentrations.
This is my stumbling block, I do not have the expertise to develop the
equations for adding in the effect site compartment. Is there anyone out
there that knows of published equations, or knows of the equations?
