Dear All
I am interested to hear from the members of this discussion group about
suitable softwares for teaching clinical pharmacokinetics . In
particular, I am interested in software for aminoglycoside and
phenytoin monitoring for use in PC or Palm Pilots. The group of
students in question is a 5th year PharmD class with sufficient
coursework in applied pharmacokinetics and therapeutic drug monitoring
and are able to calculate pharmacokinetics parameters by calculator.
Many thanks in advance

Check out Summit Science; they are marketing PK software for students.
WWW.SummitScience.com, I think.

I believe that Winnonlin(Pharsight sells it) would be a good candidate
for individual PK/PD modeling and also for non compartmental Analysis.
It is user-friendly and works pretty well when the data are rich (many
data per individual). If you are interested in using software for
Population PK, to tell you the truth, I don't know if there is one easy
software you can use that is at the same time user-friendly and robust.
My personal experience with Population PK is not too exciting. More
crashes and frustration than with any other software I used so far. I
am working with my colleague Bob Bauer to provide both an user-friendly
as well as a robust tool that would be available for the Population PK
scientific community.

Dear Fatimeh,
At www.SummitPK.com you will find details and a demo of PK Solutions,
an easy to use, Excel-based software program with comprehensive
coverage of noncompartmental and simple model pharmacokinetics. The
program has had a wide appeal as an adjunct to classroom teaching as
well as a practical tool for research. You are invited to take a look
as well as download a free listing of some 75 pharmacokinetic equations
and their meanings.
