For our renal transplant patients, we estimate AUC for tacrolimus when
we think that the total exposure of the drug is not correlating with the
trough level.
There are several equations that you can use. We use a 4 point AUC
(trough, 1 hour, 2 hour and 4 hour post dose). That way it is not too
inconvenient for the patient and it gives a 93% correlation with actual
AUC. The reference and equations can be found at:
