Hello everyone,
I have a question about the effect of the solvent volume of an
induction drug.
For example, for PCN induction in following two situations:
1. Treated rat: PCN, 50 mg/kg/day in corn oil (1 ml/kg/day)
Control: corn oil, 1 ml/kg/day;
2. Treated rat: PCN, 50 mg/kg/day in corn oil (5 ml/kg/day)
Control: corn oil, 5 ml/kg/day.
I.P. injection for 4 days, and assuming that 50 mg/kg/day of PCN is
enough to
elicit a response.
I wonder if the two situations will obtain a similar induction
response. Is
there any general rule in choosing the solvent volume for the induction
drug?
Any suggestions and references are highly appreciated. Thank you for
your input.
