Dear all,
Does anybody know how to avoid or minimize mortality
due the intratracheal administration procedure of
liquid(s) in rat (under light isoflurane anesthesia
plus air) ?

hi sofiene
we also had delivered corticosteroids intratracheally to rats (adults
and
neonates). we also experinced mortality rates but not a lot. i think the
only factor which could contribute to this effect is the volume of dose
administered. in the neonates 15-20?l in a 25-28 gm animal seemed to
work
for our experiments. in adults higher volumes as much as 40-60?l
(depending
on the weight of the animal) could be tried. how much did u administer?
we
performed tracheostomy to administer the drug.
