availability of
debrisoquine and/or 4-hydroxydebrisoquine for CYP2D6 phenotyping. We
plan to
start up CYP2D6 phenotyping in our hospital in the coming months but we
encouter difficulties in the acquisition of debrisoquine 10 mg tablets
or
the raw substance from commercial companies. Is anyone familiar with the
problem or did we not put enough effort in our search.
Sincerely,

Why don't you try Dextromethorphan/Dextrorphan
metabolism ratio for CYP2D6 phenotyping.
Dextromethorphan is safer and more available. You can
prepare the drug and its metabolites from Hoffmann-La
Roche (Basel, Switzerland)

No idea about debrisoquine; but what do you have against using
dextromethorphan? A 4-hour urine sample following the administration
of 10
mL of, for example, Robitussin DM, will provide you with a CYP2D6
phenotype.
