Has anyone heard about the term 'Inverse modelling'
Any information and/or reference about it will be
highly appreciated.
Thanks
Ananda

My best guess is this term may relate to the process of simulating
plasma
concentrations (from a single dose admininstration) from measured plasma
concentrations obtained following multiple dosing: the doses and the
dosing
interval would need to be known.
Hope this comment helps

Dear Ananda,
Google helps a lot.
Forward modelling = creation of model from first principles i.e.
theoretical model. i.e. engineering philosophy of building from the
bottom
up.
Inverse modelling = creation of a model and estimation of parameter
values
from data. Also termed reverse engineering.
These come from the more physical sciences, such as physics itself,
geography, earth sciences, oceanography, etc.
I suspect that most current PK and PK/PD practice is inverse. Physiology
based PK, mechanistic PD and systems biology models try to be forward
(but
still need much information on biosystem specifications at present).
Best regards, Phil.
