Dear all,Back to the Top
I am involved in doing preclinical pk in mice and rat species.
I wanted to know what is the best practice for bleeding and anaesthisia.
In case of mice species it will be terminal (which route is recommended
the most and what anaesthetic agent) and in case of rats it will be
serial sampling (upto 8 samples/pk study, of course it will be less
than 10% of the total blood volume)so which route and what anaesthetic
agent is recommended.
I am sure many members in the pharmpk are directly involved in this
kind of work, so would like to hear from the experts.
Thanks,
Suresh.B.L
Dear Suresh,Back to the Top
The choice of anaesthetic agent and bleeding methods
will depend on the type of experiment u
perform. However for a simple PK study its better to
use Anaesthetic Ether.
Because it is very short acting and will be lost with
in few minutes.
and for bleeding the Mouse and Rats its simple and
convenient through Retro Orbital Plexus using small
Capillaries.
Hope this will help u
