Dear allBack to the Top
Could any one tell me which internal standard could be suitable to
measure paracetamol and sodium thenoate in a medicine
Thanks
2-acetamidophenol is a very good internal standard for paracetamolBack to the Top
(4-acetamidophenol). You can separate them using pentafuoropropionic
anhydride 1mM in isochratic conditions. If you are using LC-MS you will
have
to add a suitable volume of formic acid (0.1-0.5%) because PFPA may
cause
signal suppression.
Hope this helps

Dear AmorBack to the Top
Internal std is selected o the basis on following two way you can
choose any internal std if it is fitting the following criteria
1) IS (Internal Std.) should be the same category of analyte of interest
2) Is should be pharamcologically same as Analyte
3) IS should be structuraly similar to Analyte.
Hopes this will help you
An ideal internal standard should be of same chemical class (may not beBack to the Top
always), more or less same molecular weight, physicochemical
properties.
Pharmacological properties are not criteria for selection.
