Does anybody have examples of substances that are either substrates or
inhibitors of PGP in one species but not in another?

Dear Marilyn,
There is only little data available in published literature.
Dexamethasone seems a better substrate drug for the Mdr1a compared to
MDR1, likewise for phenytoin. I would think in many published cases
Mdr1a and MDR1 are not too different, if this is the species difference
you are talking about. one simply has to test this, if it is that
important.
Anyway, within our company research we see differences between Mdr1a and
MDR1 pretty frequent, but one simply has too do the experiment: compare
LLC-Mdr1a with LLC-MDR1 cells.
I am not so sure this is very helpful but there you go.
Would be interesting to find out about others in the field what is out
there
