Hello
Can someone please tell me what is the maximum volume that can be
orally administered to a mouse?
I have to dose two compounds 30 minutes apart and was wondering if it
would be possible to give both at 0.2 mL/20 g or will this be too much?
Thanks very much in advance
Nicola

With mice one can go as high as 20 mL/kg, although less is preferable,
so if my mental calculation is correct, your doses are each 10 mL/kg,
so this should be OK.

Nicola:
You should be OK. The standard reference we use is Wolfensohn and Lloyd
who state 20 mL/kg as the limit for an oral dose in a fasted animal.
That's 0.4 mL for your 20 g mouse. Two doses spread 30 min apart and
delivered by gavage should work.

Dear Smith,
10ml/kg should be fine ( as you calculated, 0.1 ml/10 g mouse)

Martin
