The following message was posted to: PharmPK
I read this in a message posted to the list last week,
"As far as I'm aware of this, classifying the compounds into low,
medium or high absorption is done using a calibration curve relating
the fraction absorbed in humans to Papp observed using Caco-2 cells. "
Sorry, I'm new at this and my Google searches have only further
confused me,
I am wondering what "Papp" is. It sounds like it might be a set of
data we
get from doing Caco-2 testing, but I do not know what type of
information it
tells us.
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks,
Rachel

Dear Rachel,
Papp is apparent permeability; yes, you are correct that this value
that can be derived from Caco-2 data. If you are considering setting
up an assay for testing passive permeability, perhaps also look into
the PAMPA approach.

Dear Rachel,
It tells about the amount of drug transported across the cell membrane
per unit time.
Also you can refer article from Drug metabolism and disposition,
Journal of
Pharmaceutical Sciences
AND So on.
I hope this hepls,
