Dear list members
Can anyone in the list direct me to self-learning pharmacokinetic
resources that can be used by our staff with non-pharmacy background
to learn the basic principles of pharmacokinetics.
Specially those free or reasonably priced electronic or online
resources.
Thanks,

Sylvie,
Many here at Micromath have found Dr. Mike Makoid's online text Basic
Pharmacokinetics very helpful. You can find it at:

Cheers!

Dear Sylvie,
Try searching the internet with "boomer" - you'll come across a
product and CD-ROM for learning pharmacokinetics for about $20 US - a
best buy. May have been improved over the years. Good graphics,
examples and lecture notes.

Hi Sylvie,
I concur with other members. Dr Makloid's notes and Dr Bourne's web site
(www.boomer.org) are probably the best ones to look at for any PK
related
materials.
Here are a few options for your consideration.
The list of web sites that deal exclusively with the Pharmacokinetics.
Mike Makoid's (Creighton)

David Bourne's (Oklahoma)

Betty ann Hoener (UCSF)
Bosso's (U of SC)

Hochhaus's (U of Florida)

Sylvie,
I would recommend "Modern Biopharmaceutics" from the University of
Michigan,
produced over several years by Gordon Amidon and Marival Bermejo. It
is a CD
that covers a variety of subjects including oral absorption,
pharmacokinetics, and drug delivery. It is inexpensive and the
content and
presentation are perfect for both beginner and experienced scientist.

Dear Sylvie
check this:
http://www.tsrlinc.com/mbindex.htm
PK and also Biopharmaceutic concepts at a reasonable
price.
"The Modern Biopharmaceutics(TM) Version 6 Computer Based
Training Software provides a complete information base
for both university biopharmaceutics courses and
continuing-education mini-courses for active
professionals. Available on CD or as a downloadable
file, the program teaches both basic principles and
important applications. In the university environment
it can be used either as a stand-alone course or
following a course in Pharmacokinetics. For the
professional scientist looking to enhance his or her
understanding in key areas of biopharmaceutics, each
module stands alone and can be studied independently,
for individualized learning.
The software is available in a single user version and
a network version licensed for 50 users. Both versions
are available in English and Spanish.
