Dear all,
what is the minimum time to allow for chewing a tablet for the
purpose of dosing in BE studies. If the tablet is not completely
dissolved in mouth, what is the further procedure. i.e can we allow
to swallow with specified fluid?
what is the procedure to calculate chewing time?

There is no minimum standard time required to chew a tablet I have
never come accross that in litreature or textbooks. However chewable
tablets does not require dissolution or disintergration test. Where
it is also to be used locally within the GIT there is no point of
invivo studies. Microbial assay is okay
In a situation where you want to eradicate the microbes in the blood
or the point of action is not only the GIT but the entire body there
is need for an appropiate invivo study.
