Dear Colleagues,
I've been working on ion trap MS for years (mostly on LCQ and LTQ) I
was also trained on Sciex API3000 triple quad but I never did any big
project on it. I might get a job offer to do some LC-MS/MS for PK
study. I assume I'll be using triple quad. Is it hard to transfer
from trap mass spectrometer to triple quad? Thanks for any comments.
Have a nice day!

Not hard if you have experience with QITs. Instead of tandem-in-time you
will perform tandem-in-space experiments. Triple quads are more
sensitive in MRM (SRM) mode, for quantitation purposes. There are
some scan types
that will be useful for metabolism studies (neutral loss, precursor ion
scan.......). On the other hand they are less sensitive than QITs in
full scan mode and resolution is poorer.
However you should not experience any major problem.
Hope it helps.
