Dear All,
While on the subject of solubility, I was just wondering is there a
standard way of measuring the solubility of a compound? It seems
that everyone that I talk to have their favorite method but all
consists of suspending in solvent of interest, promote the
dissolution by shaking/sonicating/warming, filter, and quantitate
filtrate. Although this does give some important information, to me
this is more akin to measuring the concentration of a saturated
solution rather than the solubility of the compound in the solvent.
Would highly appreciate any help in placating my confused mind.
Take care,
Tai
[I thought solubility WAS the concentration of a saturated solution
in the solvent of interest at the temperature specified. Pressure?
Any phase rule experts? - db]

Well,
There are some alternative way in that considering compound and
solvent then a measure based on chemical reaction rate would help
too. Where as applying photometrics to graded concentration would
suit butter the solubility profile in question.
good luck
