I am working with a compound that is soluble in 1% triethlyamine in
water. We are planning to administer the compound IV to rats for a 7
day tox study. We have not had much experience working with
triethylamine as a solvent. We are worried about the toxicity of TEA
as such. So,given our dosing scheme of 4 ml/kg injection volume, that
would mean each rat will receive approximately 40 mg/kg TEA every day
for 7 days(IV). Oral LD50 for TEA in rats is 460 mg/kg. Has anybody
used TEA as a solvent for IV preparations. Please help me out.
Thanks in advance,
John
