Question pertaining to a UV lamp Problem:
I am currently working from an old HP 1050UV detector for HPLC
analysis. I seem to be having a continuing problem of the lamp
shutting down (in an unpredictable fashion) during my runs. I have
replaced the previous two lamps secondary to a low illumination
recording. Additionally, I have read through the manuals and insured
that the settings appear appropriate to prevent the lamp shut down
when not intended. I am at a loss (other than perhaps some
electrical issue within the device as it is old). Any thoughts or
suggestions would be appreciated.

Melanie:
Your guess (.....perhaps some electrical issue within the
device ....) is most likely correct.
I think ( as I remember the 1050) you need to have someone replace
the power board for the detection module.

These used to shut down due to heat. You may be missing or have a
compromised heat sink. Has HP been of any help?
