Does anyone out there know if sensitivity to indomethacin (like
sensitivity to ASA) exists? If so, any idea what dose/concentration is
required? Any chance that sub microgram quantities, given IM would be
an issue?
references would be appreciated.
thanks

Hi Mark Sale ;
Yes alot of people has sensitivity to indomethacin like sensitivity
to ASA and some times cross sensitivity to ASA. Therefore, people
sensitivity to ASA should be very carefull about that. It doesnt make
difference what is the route of administration.

Hi Mark,
To my knowledge, administration of most NSAIDS (COX-1 ihibibitors in
particular) is associated with reactions similar to the ASA-
sensitivity ones (urticaria, angioedema and respiratory
hyperresponsiveness). I am not sure what is the exact dosage range
that would result in clinically significant sensitivity reactions to
indomethacin. However, pharmacovigilance reports from Spain and
several parts of Europe documented such cases with acceptable accuracy.
Below, please find the citation to one of the most comprehensive
ADR's papers on NSAIDS in Europe. You may need to refer to some of
the references listed at the end for exact doses in some of the cohorts.
