Look up some of the papers by Miklos Gellai and Heinz Valtin. They were
pioneers in consciouse restrained rat. Anyway, using their procedures
we routine would sample whole blood, spin to produce plasma-remove
plasma- resuspend the red cells in saline then restore the red cells in
saline to the animal no losses no clotting. Resuspension used 1 mL
gilson and regular tip. You need to resuspend the red cells in something
before trying to pipette.
