Dear All,
I am currently working on drug absorption studies (flux determination)
in
the ussing chamber using rat jejunum. I was hoping for some opinions on
the subject on whether stripping the rat jejunum is indispensable
despite
the technical difficulty. Also thoughts on the role of the serosa as an
additional non-physiological barrier for flux studies are highly
appreciated. And maybe someone has some advice on the stripping method.
Best Regards,

Dear Jeannine,
In relation to your question if stripping of the muscle layer from rat
jejunum could improve function in the ussing chamber: please see a
paper of us, Journal of Pharmacological and Toxicological Methods 51
(2005) 65-72, where we observed only a slight positive effect on (a
low!) ATP content.
kind regards,
