Hello everyone,
I have a question on dose adjustment of antimicrobials during
pregnancy (where there is no TDM - for eg. outpatients). A senior
specialist asked me about it and all I can find are recommendations
based on PK studies (scientific papers) that beta-lactams should
probably be given in higher doses, but nothing conclusive or
clinically useful so far. On the other hand there are book references,
where it is written that the overall changes in pregnancy probably
rule out or cannot be quantified enough to change the dosing regimen.
I would appreciate your comments on the matter, which I find very
important and useful in everyday clinical practice.
Thanks in advance!
Best regards,
Kristina Nadrah
