I wanted to know what human equivalent dose in rat will be required to
administer of micro-formulation of a marketed product repaglinide ER
tablet of 1 mg for human.

dear rahul
acc to rat's weight you have to calculate the dose for the given drug.
as for human we take 60 or 70 kg (confirm it) for the dose calculation
of an adult, so acc to that weight suppose for 60 kg adult we have
dose 1mg so for the rats weight how much it will be. also you can
confirm about the dose calculation chart which is easily available on
net or any pharmacology lab manuals.

Just to add, the metabolic activity of the rat is greater than the
human and may have to consider in your calculation.

During conversion of human equivalent dose to rat you should consider
body
surface area. Generally people uses this criateria for conversion of
human
equivalent dose to animal species.
For conversion of Human equivalent dose to rat you should either divide
human dose by 6.2 or multiply it with 0.16.

Dear Rahul
To convert Human to Rat dose or vice versa FDA guidelines is
avilable in the website. If you consider the Human BW is 60 kg for
1mg then the rat dose would be 100ug/kg . I hope this would helps you.

In a simple way, I would like to advice you to either go for the 0.09
mg/Kg as a 1ED or 0.18 mg/Kg as 2ED. These doses I have proposed based
on the body surface area and metabolic difference between this two
species.
