Hi,
we're doing a study to correlate the influence of pharmacogenetics on the response to clopidogrel. as part of this study, we will not only measure platelet reactivity of subjects(PD), but also measure serum lvls of clopidogrel-trough(PK). Can you advise on what reagents will be needed, what the procedure should be like for the PK bit. e.g. does the patient need to fast, skip his dose of clopidogrel?
read in several articles that the active metabolite of clopidogrel is not stable and requires derivatisation with 2-bromo-3'-methoxyacetophenone so as to be stable. but not sure if there are other alternative reagents. or how much reagent should be used etc. i hope you can enlighten me.
Thanks very much for your help!!!=)
Regards,
Huilin

May be the rationale for pharmacokinetic (in this case very inaccurate) is not the principal criteria when you have access directly to the end response (good accuracy). And the rationale of the study is pharmacogenetics.
