I have a water-soluble drug that I would like to administer subcutaneously
or intramuscularly in a formulation that would allow doses of 5-20 mg/kg.
I know that the drug is soluble in aqueous solution (saline) to at least
100 mg/kg.
1. Does anyone know of a gel or other excipient that could be used with a
water soluble drug?
2. Does the drug need to be totally solubilized for a subcutaneous
administration to humans?
3. What is the maximum acceptable volume that can be given to humans
subcutaneously or intramuscularly?.
4. Are there any other commercially feasible ways of administering such a
drug by a non-oral, non-IV route?
