Dear Fellows,
I am currently working on a rodent sepsis-induced acute lung injury model by
administrating intravenously live bacterial strains. However, my animals will
either die after 24-48 h or fully recover .
I would like to ask if anyone of has expertise in this type of model.
Thanks

Dear Abdel Omri,
A late response to your request regarding the sepsis model induced by
live bacteria: I injected live bacteria strains intraperitoneally
(see okt. issue of Am J Pathol. vol 151, 1997, K. Poelstra et al.).
This model induces sepsis within 6 hours and 25% of the animals die
within 24 hr. I share your observation that they either die or
fully recover within 48 hr. Your model (iv. injections of bacteria)
may, to my opinion, induce intravascular occlusion in some animals,
which may induce death within a few hours.
The dosis I applied was : 0.2 ml of a suspension containing 1 x
10exp10 CFU/ml live bacteria (i.p.).
